NTA has also given an optional facility to upload a cancelled cheque for better verification and to avoid transaction failures.
Deadline and Rules
The refund portal remains active for a limited period, and candidates must complete the process before the deadline. Reports indicate that the submission window is open until May 27, 2026.
NTA has clearly stated that:
Once bank details are submitted, they cannot be edited later.
Candidates should not initiate chargebacks through banks or payment apps.
Incorrect details may lead to refund failure.
How Much Refund Will Students Receive?
Reports suggest that the refund amount depends on the category of the candidate. General category students are expected to receive around ₹1700, while OBC and EWS candidates may receive approximately ₹1600. However, payment gateway charges may not be included in the refund.

While the refund process appears simple online, many students from rural and economically weaker backgrounds face practical difficulties. A large number of aspirants complete their NEET applications through cyber cafes or third-party agents. In such cases, refunds may go to the intermediary’s account instead of the student’s personal account.
