A Labour Card is issued by the Labour Department of Indian states to provide social security and welfare benefits to workers in the unorganized sector. It helps ensure minimum wages, accident insurance, pensions, maternity benefits, and more.
Types of Labour Cards
There are generally two types:
1. Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) Card
For construction workers like masons, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, etc.
2. Unorganized Worker Card
For workers in domestic work, street vending, agriculture, textiles, transport, etc.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicant must be a citizen of India.
Age: 18–60 years
Must be a worker in the unorganized sector.
Should have worked at least 90 days in the last year.
Not an income taxpayer or covered under EPFO/ESIC.

3. Address Proof (Voter ID, Ration Card, Utility Bill)
4. Passport-size Photo
5. Bank Passbook Copy

Offline Application
Visit the nearest Labour Office or Common Service Centre (CSC) with required documents and submit your application.
Validity and Renewal
Labour Card is usually valid for 1 year.
It must be renewed annually, with proof of continued employment.
